As adults, we tend to do things our own way and sometimes, we would cross the boundary or might not have done enough. There’s no doubt it’s hard to be moderate in life as no matter how hard we try, maintaining an equilibrium between both sides is extremely difficult. However, despite it being so tough, we still have to try and that’s why it’s important to motivate your children to be moderate in all things.
Basically, there are two aspects of life that children should be motivated in being moderate; their personality and their lifestyle. Personality is judged by the way they speak and dress to their behavior which is also influenced by the environment they were brought up with since young. Home education is important but without enough exposure to the world, it is not enough. However, should possess strong will power, they will not be easily influenced by outside factors.
Start by teaching your children how to dress up properly. If their taste is a bit outrageous, try to tone them down some how but do not outright reject them. Sometimes, letting them learn things to hard way might prove effective. Try to make both parties satisfied if possible. Watch the way your children speak and behave as children love to imitate people around them and sometimes accents and trends they pick up might be rude and inappropriate. Lead a good example for them to follow and guide them towards to proper path.
On the other hand, their lifestyle changes as they grow up. Should they be brought up with moderation, they will eventually fall back to their foundation. Everyone’s lifestyle is influenced by their personality the most. Say if they taught to be moderate towards things since young, this trait, if successful will last them throughout their life.
Allow your children to make friends on their own without you controlling them. This will allow them to learn about other people’s view towards them and whether they are socially acceptable. The most important thing in today’s lifestyle is money and teaching them to be moderate with it can prevent them from finding themselves in financial difficulties in the future. Start by making them save up part of their allowances and teach them to budget their daily expenses. A healthy lifestyle is one that maintains a balance between work and play so by teaching them to be moderate, they can achieve this.
Moderation is a healthy practice for everyone, as such, teaching your children this way of life will be beneficial. Besides, moderation will teach them to accept the facts of life and themselves too, enabling them to have a more mature thinking.
