Young Children With Bowel Problems

Bowel problem is an abnormal condition in which a series of difficult passage of hard dry stools are experienced. It is refers to constipation as well. Bowel problem used to be common among young children and the elderly, however they can happen in any age group. Constipation happen due to a variety of serious diseases, sudden anxiety, lack of fiber in one’s diet, or change of eating habit and habitat.

Minor constipation can be elevated into serious condition if they have not being attended appropriately when it is still at its minor stage. Depending on the cause of this bowel irritable syndrome , constipation can be short or long term. Parents should always encourage their young children to go to the toilet immediately when they have the urge to. They should avoid the habit of delaying the urge of bowel movement because frequent delaying of such urge will result in short term constipation unnecessarily.

Major constipation symptom usually happened due to one’s imbalance diet consumption which is lack of fiber over a long period of time.  Fruits and vegetables contain a lot of fiber which is very healthy for our body and health. Fiber helps to regulate our bowel movements as it keeps our digestive system functioning normally by removing those feces out from our body to sustain the purity of our body by eliminating as much toxins as possible on daily basis.

Every parent should be closely monitoring their young children’s bowel habits. It is beneficial to guide them on their toileting habits when they are still small. Encourage them to go to the toilet after their morning breakfast for at least 10 minutes even if they do not have the urge to pass bowel. At the same time, add more green leafy vegetables and high fiber fruits into their daily diet and snacks to ensure that they have at least 25g of fiber every day to stay healthy.

Equally important, parents and nannies ought to encourage the young children to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to maintain the optimum hydration level of their body to avoid themselves from being dehydrated. At the same time, adequate water intake is necessary to alleviate the condition of their constipation while having enough exercise will also help in this case.

Parents should also monitor their young kids’ bowel movements. A healthy person should have soft and well-formed feces. If your kid’s bowel movements is not as well-form as expected, make a visit to your family doctor for check-up and professional advice is highly recommended.

Very often, constipation can be avoided if good toileting habit is practiced with a good consumption of food in high fiber. Most young children are more picky at their food compared to adults, so make it a point to revise your cooking and dishes by adding colorful vegetables dressings to the dishes which are made up of cucumber and tomato in different shapes to attract your young ones to try them out!
